Beneath the Red Sea

Below the waves of the Red Sea lies a world as intricate and ancient as the temples on land. Coral formations, fish species found nowhere else on Earth, and waters so clear you can see forever. We descend with our dive master, Hassan, who has logged over 3,000 dives in these waters. The coral ecosystem is extraordinary—massive table corals, branching staghorn formations, and small caves teeming with life. Fish in colors that seem impossible—electric blues, neon yellows, translucent silvers—navigate the reef with the familiarity of birds in a forest. Hassan points out a moray eel, a octopus camouflaged against the rocks, a seahorse clinging to seagrass. He moves through this world with the ease of someone completely at home. The reef, he explains, is in delicate balance. Rising temperatures, coastal development, and fishing pressure threaten its survival. Yet in this moment, suspended in blue infinity, surrounded by life that has thrived here for millennia, the threat feels distant.
